A Week Of Sporting Events

Beginning tonite will be the kick off of the 2010 World Cup in Johannesburg, South Africa. The first match will be between host South Africa playing Mexico. As from tonight all soccer fans will be glued to the TV screen or big screen at mamak stalls, cafe's or favourite waterholes. Its a soccer fever with different degrees of temperature as from tonite depending on the teams playing.

South Africa had made two appearances in the World Cup in 1998 and 2002 while on paper Mexico is a more formidable side with 13 Final appearances and had a host of tittles to their side. For me I pick Mexico to win this inaugural match.

In Malacca, Sukan Malaysia XIII is gaining momentum and the opening ceremony will be held on the eve of 12 Jun 2010 at Hang Jebat Stadium. Malacca promises to present the unexpected and we will wait and see what is the unexpected.

Sunday 13th Jun is the Commonwealth Games Queens Baton Relay (follow the route HERE) run to be held at Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur.
