Profesionalism In Sports
There's a topic Profesinalisme Dalam Sukan in the Kursus Pengurusan Sukan Kebangsaan Curriculum (KPSK) organised by National Sports Council.
In relation to the topic, I found this Azraai Khor's post on Facebook
In relation to the topic, I found this Azraai Khor's post on Facebook
He was talking about professionalism among local players. Who should shoulder the responsibility to educate our players who are all mostly youngsters.
Majority of them started playing in the local league as soon as they left school and sad to say that many have poor education background.
As what Azraai Khor mentioned in his posting, these players do not have the skill to manage their income during the time they are attached with a team. They might not have Plan B with their income to save for the rainy days.
Sports is a risky activity and athletes who earn a living through sports can have their income jeapordised anytime. Injury and decreasing of skill is the worst enemy.
When I was lecturing about training under the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme's (SPKK) Sports Science, I always tell the coaches who attended the course that "Injury is the begining of the end of an athlete's career" relating to how many once a talented player and hopeful athlete had to give up sports due to injury.
What Azraai Khor mention in his post is all true.

Bull Sperm In Energy Drink?
Taurine has been one of the ingredient in energy Drinks. What is Taurine? Wikipedia defines: Taurine, or 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid, is an organic acid widely distributed in animal tissues. It is a major constituent of bile and can be found in the large intestine and accounts for approximately 0.1% of total human body weight.[1] Taurine has many fundamental biological roles such as conjugation of bile acids, antioxidation, osmoregulation, membrane stabilization and modulation of calcium signaling. It is essential for cardiovascularfunction, and development and function of skeletal muscle, the retina and the central nervous system. Taurine is unusual among biological molecules in being a sulfonic acid, while the vast majority of biologically occurring acids contain the more weakly acidic carboxyl group. While taurine is sometimes called an amino acid, and indeed is an acid containing an amino group, it is not an amino acid in the usual biochemical meaning of the term, which refers to compounds containing both an amino and a carboxyl group.

Energy Drinks Contain Ingredient Extracted From Bull Urine And Semen. That was a sentence found on one article from dailybuzz. A study done by Longhorn Cattle Company, tested some of the top energy drink brands such as Red Bull, monster etc. What they found might leave your stomach in a knot. They found that the drinks do, in fact, contain bull semen. How far is it true?
An article in Mayo Clinic mentions "Some studies suggest that taurine supplementation may improve athletic performance, which may explain why taurine is used in many energy drinks.
Taurine is the ingredient that has come under fire. Taurine is named after the Latin Taurus, which means bull. It was first isolated from ox bile in 1827 by Australian scientists Friedrich Tiedemann and Leopold Gmelon. It is often called an amino acid, even in scientific literature, but it lacks a carboxyl group it is not strictly an amino acid. Taurine is present in bulls livers, semen and urine. One thing is certain, the taurine used in energy drinks such as Red Bull is taken from these sources.
