Malaysian Beat Malaysia?

Malaysia fail in the bid to bring back Thomas Cup but the players did their best to walk elegantly into the finals. All praise should still be given to the whole Thomas Cup squad.

However not many of us knew that the coach who help create badminton history for Japan is a Malay Malaysian.

He was former Nusa Mahsuri coach Izuan Ibrahim. To many of us he is actually nobody in the badminton coaching fraternity since he was not as popular as Datuk Misbun or Rashid Sidek or other ex national players. If he is still in Malaysia now, will he get the pleasure of being with Thomas Cup winner even if Malaysia win had won the cup.

It should be an eye opener to all of us that to be a good and success coach you don't have to be a popular sports figure. Its your knowledge and to be with a team that has a a winning objective in mind.

Malaysia beat traditional rival Indonesia to march elegantly into the Finals to meet Japan who earlier deliver an upset by beating world badminton giant China. The finals is on Sunday 25th May 2014.

During the semifinals Chong Wei Feng sealed the victory over Indonesian Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka in a straight set 21-10, 21-17. Is he the new Chong Wei?

The first point came from Lee Chong Wei after beating Tommy Sugiarto 21-19, 21-13 and Tan Boon Heong-Hoon Thien How were not given a ghost of a chance against reigning world and All-England champions Mohammad Ahsan-Hendra Setiawan, but they proved their sceptics wrong by winning 21-19, 8-21, 23-21. Thomas Cup 2014 is just one step away for Malaysia after the last victory in 1992 on home ground. Then Malaysia in Group B beat Denmark and United Kingdom 5-0 and 4-1 respectively before ousting China 3-2 in the Semi-finals to meet Indonesia. In the Final Malaysia beat arch rival Indonesia 3-2

Now its every Malaysian's hope that the cup will return to Kuala Lumpur. Japan might be an easier opponent to beat, but over confident will turn the result otherwise.

The Final will be played at 3.00 pm (5.30 Malaysian Time).

ALL THE BEST FOR MALAYSIA
