The cauldron of the
XX Commonwealth Games had been officially lit at the Celtic Park officiated by Queen Elizabeth II in front of a 40,000 capacity crowd. There will be 17 sports featured across 11 days of competitions. 71 Commonwealth countries will be taking part and is the biggest sporting event that Scotland had ever hosted.
The Malaysian contingent flew the Jalur Gemilang carried by Fatehah Mustapa, half (mast) post in respect of the recent MH17 tragedy that claimed 298 innocent lives. The official attire for MAS crew were also projected as a mark of support for them who lost their colleague in the crash.
